Nechako Retreat

Nechako RetreatFor a truly unique and relaxing experience, come to Nechako Retreat. Soak in the solitude and get in touch with nature at our rustic log cabin right on the banks of the tranquil Nechako River. This cozy cabin is nestled into ten deeded acres, approximately seven kilometers below Cheslatta Falls. Put your canoe in at the cabin and experience world-class fishing for rainbow trout. In late August through September, you can watch the age-old ritual of Chinook salmon spawning; the cabin is located at one of the primary spawning grounds on the river. It is also a favourite spot for wildlife including bald eagles, moose and deer so be sure to bring your camera

If you like things a little less rustic, you can watch the sunset and listen to the coyotes howl from the deck of our Guest House, situated on our main property here at Nechako Retreat. While the river is not at your door, it is just a stones throw away and you will hear the loons calling on nearby Cathy’s Lake, a hot-spot for birding. The Guest House has hot and cold running water, is fully equipped for cooking, and has a barbeque and private picnic spot. If you prefer not to cook for yourself, meals prepared from our organic vegetable garden and wild edibles, are available in our spacious log home. You may decide you’d like to dine on our pleasant verandah with a view of Hobson Mountain to the south.

Nechako Retreat is open year round, so if you come in winter, you will be treated to the spectacle of Trumpeter Swans on their wintering grounds, a great opportunity for photos. Winter can be a wonderful time to get out and explore, either on snowshoes or skis. Whenever you decide to come, we look forward to meeting you!
